I’ve been using YummyFTP for quite a while for all my web needs. Nearly a year ago, I told the man behind the app that I wanted to make a new icon for him, since the current icon looked like a peanut butter and blood sandwich. So I’ve finally started designing it, and it seems I’ve hit a sort of a design block.

It seems people prefer the original the most. I do agree to a certain degree. Even though you can download too, one arrow is enough and doesn’t clutter the icon. Maybe I should do arrow one coming from the left?

I’ve been lurking around, oohing and ahhing at brilliant web designs through CSS galleries. I’ve been to over 20 or so CSS galleries, and I’d have to give the gold to BestWebGallery.com. You can quickly see a snapshot of different websites, and mouseover each to see a larger preview. BestWebGallery also has one of the best collection of quality websites. The designer’s website is mighty impressive too.

I’ve only submitted my site recently to CSS Tux. Maybe I should submit to a few more.

I’ve updated the Cypher icon as part of the MacMage.com makeover. At first glance it seems rather similar, but there are a few key changes that strengthen the icon.

  • The top/bottom caps have more width
  • The word CYPHER fits better
  • The glowing ring has been revamped
  • Highlights improved to add more depth
  • Rid the glow/shadow underneath the icon

I don’t think we really have any plans to update the actual Cypher app itself. It all depends on whether or not Phill Ryu wants to make use of the app in the second iteration of MacHeist. I’ve also created a brand new icon for Santa’s Gizmo 2, but you’ll have to wait for that one!
